Benefits of Biometric Clocking Systems

Modern biometric clocking in systems that are available on today´s market, provide companies with numerous benefits. The obvious benefits of biometric clocking in systems are they accurately record time and save money on over paid wages, but they have so many other beneficial uses as well.

A recent survey conducted by Management Solutions on Workforce Management determined that 60 per cent of medium to large companies are still using manual clocking in systems or the anarchic time sheet. The survey also showed they were losing significant profits and breaking work time directive regulations.

The other 40% of companies included in the survey had switched to a computerised clocking in system and 99 per cent of them reported it had made a significant difference to their efficiency and general day to day running of their company.

Profit Saving Time Attendance Systems

Modern biometric clocking in systems accurately record the hours worked by employees, but not only do they ensure you don´t overpay your staff they also reduce the number of man hours it takes HR and accounts to administer attendance and process wages.

A Workforce Management Survey conducted in 2012 revealed that a staggering 67% of companies knew they had a problem with employee absenteeism, but did not know how they could address it with individuals.  Biometric locking in systems can also be used for managing absenteeism and also record why the employee was not in work.

This makes it easier for managers to spot patterns and trends in an employee´s time keeping and therefore able to address the situation to iron out any problems. But the data can also be used to address a wider reaching concern.

The Workforce Management Survey recorded that 54% of employees that take time off work cite the flu as the cause whilst stress ranked second with 39 per cent. Absenteeism costs the economy £2.52bn a year.

Job Costing

Some modern biometric clocking in systems are so sophisticated they are programmed with job costing software that can measure the amount of time it takes to complete a job. You can then use this data to set reasonable target for employees.

In some cases however, it is onerous to expect all employees to achieve the same targets even if they are doing the same job. A new starter learning the trade for example cannot be expected to be as quick as somebody who has had previous experience with another firm.

Likewise, with customer based industries where one-on-one conversations cannot be estimated it is easy for an employee to miss the target. The problem a lot of companies face however, is that these intermittent factors can be manipulated by dishonest employees.

The job costing software in some biometric clocking in systems can record the activities of individuals on any one job which can then be measured for cost. It may be that you discover some jobs you thought were worthwhile is actually costing you more than you first realised and can address the issue to improve your profitability.

There is no limit to the amount of profits that a biometric clocking in system will save you and the benefits they provide practically pay for themselves.
